→ Multiplication is a fundamental mathematical operation. In a multiplication expression, the numbers being multiplied are called factors, and the result is called the product.
→ In a multiplication sentence, the number to be multiplied is called the multiplicand, and the number by which it is multiplied is called the multiplier. The answer is called the product.
→ Multiplication sentence: Multiplier × Multiplicand = Product
→ Multiplication can also be visualized as having a certain number of groups, each with the same number of items.
→ Numbers can be multiplied in any order. The product will remain the same. It is called order property of multiplication.
→ When a number is multiplied by 1, the product is the number itself.
→ When a number is multiplied by 0, the product is always 0.
→ The product of three numbers does not change when the grouping of numbers is changed.
→ If a sum or a difference of two numbers is multiplied by another number, they can be multiplied separately and then added or subtracted.
→ To get the product of a number with another number which has zeros at the end, we first multiply the two numbers (without the zeros). Then, count the number of zeros and place that number of zeros with the product so obtained.
→The product of a number multiplied by the sum of two numbers is the same as the sum of the products of that number with the two numbers separately.
