Proof: In rt. ∆ABC,

BC2 + AB2 = DF2…(ii)…[∵ DE = BC; EF = AB
From (i) and (ii), we get

BL2 = BA2 + \left(\frac{\mathrm{CA}}{2}\right)^{2}
