GOKDOM Scholarship | Scholarship List, Eligibility, Application Process

GOKDOM Scholarship: The directorate of minorities under the Karnataka state government has launched the GOKDOM scholarship that is mainly focused on minorities like Muslim, Christians, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis, etc. The directorate is located in Bangalore and it acts as a nodal agency for all the schemes including the scholarships that are being run the central as well as state government for the welfare of minority community.

GOKDOM Scholarship Overview

GOKDOM committee was formed by the directorate of backward class in 1999-2000 for the upliftment of the social and economic status of people belonging to the minority community. The key functions that this directorate serves for minority people in Karnataka are as follows:

  • Introducing the educational schemes for students
  • Introducing the schemes that accelerate social and economic development.
  • Implementing the schemes for children as well as women.
  • Providing students with suitable training as well as employment opportunities to allow them to tackle various problems related to economic backwardness.

GOKDOM Scholarship List

GOKDOM includes all the schemes that are being offered by the directorate of minorities for the Karnataka government. This includes fellowships, scholarships, fee reimbursement fees, food and accommodation fees, madrasa schemes, etc. Here is an exhaustive list of all the scholarships that are listed in GOKDOM along with the application period and rewards that are provided to prospective students.

GOKDOM Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Since the scholarships are given by minorities directorate, Karnataka government the eligibility for the scholarships is that the students should belong to the minority community and should be a resident of Karnataka state. Also, to know about the specific eligibility criteria for each scholarship, students can refer the table below that contains all the detailed eligibility for the scholarships offered by the directorate

The marks obtained by the student in the last annual examination should be more than 50%.
The family income of the applicant should not be more than Rs. 1 Lakh.
The students belonging to other states that are studying in Karnataka cannot apply.
The students that are a domicile of Karnataka but studying in some other state can apply.
2.Post-Matric Scholarship for the minority community of KarnatakaThe students of class 11th to Ph.D. level can apply for this.
The marks obtained in the previous examination should be 50% or above.
The annual family income should not be more than Rs. 2 Lakh per annum.
The students pursuing studies through certificate/training or correspondence courses cannot apply.
The students belonging to other states that are studying in Karnataka cannot apply.
3.Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship for the minority community, KarnatakaThe student must be studying graduation or post-graduation in a technical or professional stream.
The marks obtained in the last examination should be more than 50%.
The total annual family income from all sources should not be more than Rs. 2.5 Lakh per annum.
4.National Overseas Scholarship for the minority Community Students, KarnatakaYour age should not be more than 38 years from the course commencement.
The marks scored in the last degree should be 60%.
The scholarship is applicable only for selective courses.
5.Incentive for SSLC & 2nd PUC Students, KarnatakaYou must have passed class 10th or 12th class with 85% marks or above.
6.M.Phil. and Ph.D. Fellowship for minority Students, KarnatakaThe age of the applicant should be less than 35 years.
The annual income of the family should not be more than Rs. 6 Lakh per annum.
Full-time employees or government employees or are not eligible to apply.

GOKDOM Scholarship Application Process

All the scholarships mentioned are with the directorate of minorities and have a unique application process. While scholarships can be applied offline, other scholarships need to applied online. Also, the scholarships that are supported by the central government are done through the national scholarship portal. Below table carries a detailed description for all the scholarships:
