→ Pusaw is a traditional Khasi snack from the Northeast region of India. It is made from a very special variety of red rice, grown in the hills and paddy fields of Khasi Hills. The famous Pusaw comes from the village of Mawranglang.

→ Money is used to pay for the value or price of an item or service. In India, money is computed in terms of rupees and paise.

→ These are some coins and notes that are commonly used in India.

→ We can exchange a note or coin of greater value with many notes or coins of smaller value.

→ The value of a 2-rupee coin is the same as the value of two 1-rupee coins.

→ The value of a 50-rupee note is the same as the value of five 10-rupee notes.

→ The value of a 100-rupee note is the same as the values of one 50-rupee note, two 20-rupee notes and one 10-rupee note.

→ To add two or more amounts or quantities, we add the amounts or the quantities in the same way as we add numbers.

→ To subtract one amount/quantity from another amount/quantity, we subtract the smaller amount/ quantity from the bigger amount/ quantity in the same way as we subtract numbers.

→ To add the numbers, write the numbers in place value columns and add using the following steps:

  • Add the ones.
  • Add the tens.
  • Add the hundreds.

→ If there are more than 9 ones, regroup the ones into tens and ones. If there are more than 9 tens, regroup the tens into hundreds and tens.

→ To subtract one number from another, write the smaller number below the bigger number and follow the given steps:

  • Subtract the ones.
  • Subtract the tens.
  • Subtract the hundreds.

→ If there are not enough ones in the minuend to subtract from, we regroup the numbers 1 ten to 10 ones, if there are not enough tens in the minuend, we regroup 1 hundred to 10 tens. In the same way, if there are not enough ones and tens in the minuend, we regroup both hundreds and tens.
